NAFI Teams with ASA for KidVenture First-Timers

May 11, 2006 - A new aviation experience will be available to youngsters who attend the KidVenture area at this year's EAA Airventure celebration in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Members of the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) will be providing actual flight instruction on an On Top Basic ATD simulator provided by Aviation Supplies & Academics (ASA).

Young visitors to the "My First Logbook" booth will receive an endorsement from an FAA certified flight instructor for the time logged on the training device. This will count towards their Private Pilot airplane certificate. The instruction provided will cover introduction to the "basic six" instruments, how a pilot reads these instruments, and flight with reference to those instruments only.

ASA "Training Starts Here!" will also provide each visitor with a logbook to begin their flight training experience, and a syllabus of the lesson they complete at the booth. These will provide memories of their first instructional experience at Airventure 2006 for years to come.

NAFI is seeking CFIs to provide instruction at the KidVenture "My First Logbook" booth. Interested CFIs should contact John Teipen at 314-863-5941 or via email
john@teipen.com for additional information and scheduling. This is a great opportunity for CFIs to have some fun at Airventure and to provide a great service to the next generation of aviators.

Through a generous donation by ASA, a silent auction will be held for the On Top Basic ATD used at KidVenture. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the EAA.
